Welcome to My New York
by Olivia Ederly, age 12
New York City is called "the city that never sleeps." There is always something going on in every neighborhood.
The most extraordinary and exciting nightlife is offered here, especially in the summer. There are many theatrical productions on and off Broadway, movie theaters, concerts, jazz clubs, night clubs, cabarets, discos and bars.
For those who want to spend a night enjoying food, there are more diverse restaurants in New York City than anywhere in the world. For sports lovers there are many opportunites. Perhaps a game at Madison Square Garden, a trip to Mets' base, Shea Stadium, or a night game of tennis at a lighted court, swimming pools, bowling or even billiards.
The Javits Center has special exhibits on some evenings, and on certain nights, the museums are open and often free. There is the thrill of taking a horse and buggy ride at night on 5th Avenue or around the Plaza Hotel, or roller skating in Central Park. There is also the possibility of cruising around Manhattan and enjoying the incredible lights from a distance.
These are just a few of the choices to make in New York City. The possibilities are endless and that is why this city is so very unique.
