A Knight and a Princess
by Cameron, age 13
One night when the setting sky was aglow,
A frightened knight ran from his threatening foe,
His hurried journey across the paths and hill,
Lead him to a beautiful princess upon her window sill.
"What puts you in such a rush my knight?"
"I am running from death and a dreadful fight!"
So his story told,
The princess was so bold,
As to let him stay awhile,
Until his foe was away at least a mile.
The ice was broken by an introduction of sorts,
And a tour of the royal courts,
The tour lead them to the palace pond,
Of which the princess was ever so fond,
Here they decided to sit awhile,
With the man in the moon watching down with a smile.
The time passed and still there was no goodbye,
For the two feared a mention of this would bring a tear to an eye,
The time went on until the knight got the nerve,
To tell the lady he could never leave, he would even serve,
She shook the thought away and saved the day,
By saying," I'd rather marry you if I may."
Now, the knight was no fool,he was so happy he could sing!
For a princess; whose husband would someday be king!
This was no reason though, that would be wrong,
It was enough that his love was so strong!
Without hesitation the wedding date was set,
All the expectations were met!
You know the rest from here!
The princess, who was the knight's dear,
Lived happily ever after with her knight,
Whom she had saved from foe and fight!
