Queens, New York Daniella Johnson, age 9 and Kimberly Johnson, age 7
We both live in Hollis, Queens. Queens is one of the five boroughs of New York City, and Hollis is a part of Queens.
In Queens there are subways with trains like: the E, F, J, and Z. The Long Island Railroad also passes through Queens. And there are also Queens buses that are different from the New York City buses.
Kimberly and I go to P.S. 35Q. We like the school very much because we have lots of friends there and our teachers are nice. The school is not far from our house. Our father drives us to school in the morning and we walk home in the afternoon with our grandfather.
One of our favorite places to go in Queens is the Queens Library. Our mother takes us there on Saturday. We both have library cards and borrow books all the time because we love to read and there are lots and lots of interesting books there.
One of my favorite things to eat is pizza and Kimberly likes pizza too. There is a great pizza restaurant we like to go to called Gaby's Pizza. I think they make the best pizza in the whole of Queens.
I think what my mother likes about Queens the most is that everything is close by. Like when we go to church on Sundays it is only five blocks away.
We go to First United Methodist where both Kimberly and I were christened and where my mommy and daddy were married.
There are other ithings that are close to us in Queens, like the airports. Both Kennedy and LaGuardia airports are in Queens, so it is easy for us when we go on vacation.
We like Queens a lot because there are lots of nice things that go on. The Belmont race track is in Queens. It is about a 10 minute drive from our house. I like horses and other animals.Some of the people that are close to us are also in Queens. My grandfather lives and works in Queens and also my grandmother. And my father works in Queens too.
There is a big park in Queens called Cunningham Park. It is nice to have picnics there because there is grass everywhere and trees to shade you from the sun. Our school had a class trip to Cunningham Park where we saw the Big Apple Circus. There we saw elephants, clowns, horses, dogs and other things. We had lots of fun.
Kimberly and I have lots of cousins who we like to play with, but they don't live in Queens, but it is easy to get to Queens, so they drive on the expressway and come to visit us.
We play in our backyard because we have swings, a slide and a seesaw, just like in the park!
