Jakarta, Indonesia
by Joan & Jae
I'm Joan, and I live in Jakarta, the biggest city in Indonesia. Maybe there aren't plenty of you
that know about Indonesia. Jakarta is a really crowded city, and you will meet traffic jam everywhere,
especially during busy hours. But I'm happy to live here, because Jakarta almost got everything.
They got lots of shopping center, a huge amusement park, Sea World, etc. I just can't stand the traffic !
My name is Jae van Rysselberge. I have lived in Jakarta for 4 years. I am 10 years old. My father worked there as an ambassador.
Jakarta is the main city of Indonesia. Indonesia is made up of all kind of islands and the country is in the South of Asia. It is near Australia. It has a population of 186,180,000 people. There ,are 27 provinces. They speak there Bahasa Indonesia, Dutch and Netherlands. They eat a lot of spices.
Indonesia is a nice country. It is a place where tourist go. Balli is the most famous tourist place of Indonesia. There are a lot of Australian tourists there. In Indonesia they have a island that you have to get to with a boot. On the island they have big lizards that are called komododragons. That island is the only place where these animals come from, or maybe you can see them in a few zoos.
Near the island of Indonesia are nice places to snorkel and to go diving. There is a volcano that had the most powerful explosion on the earth, But it dose not erupt anymore. You could hear the sound in Thailand.
There is an a island were the Japanese hid in caves from the Americans. The Americans had to bomb them out. This all happent in World War II.
In Toraja when someone dies they kill a swine. They make out of wood a doll of the person and them and put it in the mountain where the person is buried. Babies that dies are buried a tree. They cut out a hole and put the baby there. The tree grows over it.
Jakarta is a very corwded place. The traffic can be very bad. The worst time is between 5 and 9 PM. There is a line of cars in front of you. You have to wait 10 min to get 7 meters.
You can do a lot of things in Jakarta, night or day. There are fun parks, shopping malls and Seaworld. The best fun park is near the sea. It is called Antshol. You have everything there - roller coasters, shooting tents and bowling. The best shopping malls are Pasaria moll and Pondokinda moll. The have everything- toys shops, video games and even a Planet Hollywood.
There are a lot of statues. There is one that look like a candle and the flame are made of gold. There is also a statue in Jakarta that is in the form of a man that carrying a burning pan. The statue is about 15 meters high.
If you want a wonderful vacation you should go to Indonesia. It is a great place.

"I am fifteen years of age and I live in Jakarta, Indonesia.
I am writing this message not only to tell the world what a wonderful place Indonesia
is but also to tell people that the situation has been very stressful and VERY REAL!!
Indonesia is made up of many islands, therefore obtaining the name, "Thousand Islands".
Some of you may know the dressing.. :) I have lived in Indonesia for ten years and have grown
up with the culture. I never use my left hand for much anymore and my second language
is Bahasa Indonesia. I have been to many of the islands, such as Bali, Lombok and others.
They have a very beautiful landscape but are quickly becoming overpopulated.
Indonesia is a very crowded place but the people are friendly.
But this friendliness is only skin deep. Underneath the skin, I believe
there are very determined, strong-headed people. This has been the outcome
of the current situation occuring in Indonesia now. There are riots and people killed;
the economic and political predicament has been the cause of much stress and trouble.
I have written what I need to say and I have one thing more, these events are real and
they are happening now..." - Brittany Brunner
