My name is Emily and I'am 11 years old and in 5th grade. I live in Minnesota and as you might know, East Grand Forks, Grand Forks, and all places near the Red River are flooded and a huge disaster area.
Watching all those sad news reports and seeind all those photos on the news really show how lucky we really are. Well my class decided to help and show those flood victims we really care. We were going to collect things for them. We quickly made posters, signs and annouced to our school that we needed thier help too. After the first day we got 3 boxes full of stuff and about $700 in checks. It was great!!
We worked for a week and a half and boy were we busy. Every day we had people leave with a cart to pick up items from classrooms. They would always come back with a full load. It was so exciting seeing how much people really care. I hope after you read this article you too will start to care about people in need.
